 PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The 1955 501® Jeans have a quintessential 1950's boxy shape—constructed with a square top block, a more "anti-fit" seat and a slightly roomier cut around the leg. They're the first 501® Jeans to bear the leather-like Two Horse Label and a Tab with the Levi's® mark in all capital letters. Like its predecessor from 1947, the 1955 501® Jeans had belt loops as the only method of waist adjustment, hidden rivets on the back pockets and zinc buttons on the fly.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

In the mid-1950's, LS&Co. started selling the 501® Jean on America's east coast for the first time. In order to suit the needs and preferences of the era, a zipper version of the button fly was introduced. It had everything longtime wearers loved: the straight fit with tapered leg, the tough but flexible fabrics, and concealed rivets. Retailers carried both the 501® Jean and its zippered brother, the 501®Z Jeans, and everyone got the pair that worked best for them.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

When WWII ended and raw materials were available again, LS&Co. leaped back into heavy production to meet the growing post-war demand. The watch pocket rivets were restored and the Arcuate was now double stitched on the back pocket, after being applied with paint throughout the war. With a slimmer fit, and streamlined design that no longer included a cinch back or suspender buttons, this jean was ready to rock 'n' roll. The 1947 501® Jean was the jean of a new generation.
