Overview
More than just an RC car, the white Jumping Sumo MiniDrone from Parrot can perform acrobatics including half- and U-turns, cruise at up to 4.5 miles per hours, and jump up to 31". It is controlled using the Parrot FreeFlight 3 app with a smartphone or other Wi-Fi enabled mobile device (available separately). A built-in 640 x 480 resolution, 15 fps camera allows you to see a first-person view as the Jumping Sumo rovers around. Plus, a USB port on top allows you to connect a flash drive to make a video recording of your adventures. Two wheel settings allow you to choose between a wide stance for speed and stability or a narrow stance for maneuverability.
- Jumps up to 31"
- The Jumping Sumo can roll, rush, zig-zag, circle, and make 90° turns - and is able to make half- and U-turns in less than a second. It offers three control modes:
- Jumper Jumps up to 31" in height and length, landing on its wheels
- Kicker: A spring enables it to push objects in its path
- Auto-Balance: Balancing a la a Segway, with the tail at a 54° angle
- Controlled with FreeFlight 3 App
- No special remote is required. The Jumping Sumo is controlled with the FreeFlight 3 app for iOS and Android, with support for Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1 expected soon. With the app you can operate manually or select from a collection of aerobatic tricks. A "road plan" enables you to program a sequence with acrobatics. When you access the app, the sequence appears amongst the pre-defined tricks for your Jumping Sumo
- Wi-Fi Connectivity
- The Jumping Sumo tethers to the mobile device controlling it using 2.4 or 5 GHz Wi-Fi, and features a range of up to 164'. No separate router or wireless network is required - simply form an ad hoc connection between the Jumping Sumo and the smartphone
- Two Wheel Settings
- Open the wheels to the wide position for the greatest stability and speed. Close them for enhanced agility and the freedom to navigate tight spaces. The embedded operating system helps ensure straight paths and tight turns
- Built-in Wide Angle Camera
- Get a first-person view of what the Jumping Sumo sees beamed to your smartphone. With 640 x 480 resolution video captured at 15 fps, it is also possible to record what the camera sees by connecting a separately available flash drive to the MiniDrone's USB port
- Customizable Sound Effects
- Depending on your driving, the Jumping Sumo expresses its mood with customizable sound animations
- LED Indicator Eyes
- A pair of LED "eyes" on the front turn green to indicate the Jumping Sumo is ready for action. If not, the will be red
- Safety First
- The Jumping Sumo automatically detects if it has been picked up and will not jump - the LED eyes turn red
