Overview
The 4TB Taurus Super-S3 LCM from Akitio is a dual-bay hard drive enclosure with two hard drives preinstalled for storing data on your Windows or Mac computer. The drives can be hardware configured via the enclosure in a RAID 0 or 1. Configuring the hard drives in RAID 0 will offer reads up to 250MB/s. In order to transfer data at these speeds to the computer system under RAID 0, it is recommended to use either the USB 3.0 or eSATA connections. This drive also features two FireWire 800 ports and a FireWire 400 port.
The Taurus Super-S3 LCM offers a LCD display for easy device configuration, event messages, and detailed information about the drives. Information provided about the drives includes temperature, serial number, storage capacity, drive failure, and when a cable is unplugged.
Cooling the drives is done with a large fan and a perforated aluminum casing. Included with the Taurus Super-S3 LCM are a USB 3.0, FireWire 400, FireWire 800, eSATA cable, and power adapter.
